t-att Index Level t-bsf
Syntax t-bck {number}
Category Tape
Type Verb
Description "backspaces" the tape to the end of the previous file or a specified number of blocks.
Options number  Indicates the number of blocks to backspace. If "number" is not specified, the tape backspaces to a position immediately preceding the previous eof mark, or to load point. Before reading the next file, a "t-fwd" must be issued to position the tape after the eof mark.

Example
Warnings "t-bck" is only reliable on floppies and half-inch tapes.

SCT's can not go backwards, so "t-bck" may fail. The last block read MAY still be in the buffer, which can be useful for reading labels. SCT's usually must be rewound ("t-rew") and moved forward ("t-fwd" or "t-space") to the desired tape file.
