| Category | Tape |
| Type | Verb |
| Description |
sets the 8mm Data Cartridge as the tape device, by invoking the "set-device" verb and passing in the argument "8mm" and an "i" option.
The default block size is 16384. The list of installed devices is displayed with an "*" in front of the selected device. If more than one 8mm tape is present on the system, this command selects the first tape in the configuration file. To select another device, use "set-device". |
| Options | c Changes tape block size. The current tape block size is displayed and the user is prompted for the new block size (0 or 512). A tape can only be read with the same block size at which is was written. Normally, D3 uses a block size of 0, which means variable length blocks, but this option is provided to read tapes written on earlier releases of D3, or for compatibility with other systems. This option might not be available on all implementations. |
